I'm borderline-ashamed to even call this a "recipe." These are glorified Rice Krispies Treats and I won't pretend for a second they're anything more. Either way, all you need is a microwave and less than ten minutes, so let's do this:
WHAT YOU NEED:
3 tablespoons butter
10 oz. marshmallows (about 40 large or 4 cups miniature)
1/2 cup peanut butter*
6 cups cereal of your choice**
*I used creamy, non-natural (crucify me if you must)
**I used Trader Joe's Multigrain O's. Any of the following would also work: Cap'n Crunch, Grape Nuts, Honey Nut Cheerios, Special K, whatever your heart desires
- Grease 9 inch square (or any size/shape you want) pan with oil, butter or cooking spray. Measure cereal into large bowl, set aside.
- Heat butter and marshmallows in a microwave safe container for three minutes, or until melted and smooth. Check and stir every minute or so. Add peanut butter and stir until combined.
- Quickly pour over cereal, using a greased spoon or spatula to coat. Press mixture into pan using spatula or greased hands (olive oil is great for your skin, I swear).
- Wait patiently for bars to cool before cutting. In the meantime, lick bowl clean.
