Okay so maybe this is about to be a little morbid.
But asking someone their "favorite song" or even "favorite band" is always a loaded question. Don't even try and play it cool like you're ready for answering those at any given time.
A few weeks ago, I was asked, and started thinking that it's not about some Pitchfork top whatever list or taking the "Radiohead cop-out."
It's about what you want played at your funeral (or wedding, or any party where no one has the right to really even ask about the music). No, I don't care if "All My Friends" is cliche. And yes, I want everyone to rap the Ludacris verse on "Yeah."
HERE's my end of days (or dawn of time) playlist:
LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends
Kanye West – Family Business
The Strokes – What Ever Happened?
Disclosure – You & Me feat. Eliza Doolittle (Flume Remix, please)
Donnie & Joe Emerson – Baby
Jay Electronica – Exhibit C
The National – I Need My Girl
Al Green – Love And Happiness
The Notorious B.I.G. – Juicy
Usher – Yeah! feat Lil’ Jon & Ludacris
Sidenote: Apologies for the irrelevant cat photo, but it's my party and I can have Banksy there if I want to.
