WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 111

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

"How Grey Poupon Became Hip Hop's Favorite Condiment" / Team mustard forever. If you prefer ketchup or (gasp) mayonnaise, you are wrong.

Tortilla Towel / Absolutely crushed that this is sold out.

Westworld / On a personal mission to get everyone I know as hyped about this show as I am. Someone please discuss theories with me. Please.

Vesper / All I want for Christmas is you.

6BLACK - FREE 6BLACKForget everyone telling you how great Starboy is. This is better. Considerably better.

Snoop & Martha's Potluck Dinner Party / "Let's dump a truckload of money on the set and special guests, then edit it like a really goofy game show. The end result will be magical." And it is.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 110

Here's what I'm loving this week:

"Selling a $5 Million, Seven-Story Basket is No Picnic" / I used to live in Columbus and saw this behemoth IRL. No photo can even do its ugliness justice. Also a fascinating story.

Pendleton Blankets / They last forever, they're warm enough to handle Chicago winter, and dope enough to hang on the wall. Shoutout to my mom for nabbing this one for my birthday.

Joey Bada$$ - "Front & Center" / Yes, that's a sample of the Narcos title theme.

Bon Iver's 22, A Million Flannel / So appropriate. 10/10.

Saba - Bucket List Project / I'm on board with any album that has a Twista feature.

Novelty Socks / We're about to be knee deep in holidays. No time like the present to hit the Dollar Spot at Target and grab a bunch of dumb socks. Bonus - you can now go an extra few days without doing laundry.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 109

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

2 Dope Queens / If you're still sleeping on this, wake the hell up. The comedy is consistently good, the guests are bomb, and if you don't also want to marry Jessica Williams, there's something wrong with you.

The Smiths Family T-Shirt / I am wearing this today. I have never felt more alive.

"Generation Adderall" / You and me and everyone we know.

Lizzo / I don't even know where to start here. Ultimate lady anthems. The new cornerstone of my "put on some pants and pretend to be stoked" playlist. Also, her videos are everything.

NxWorries - Yes Lawd / Continued adventures in Anderson .Paak crushing it.

Fleabag / I watched this in a single sitting. It's hilarious in the darkest, most painful way.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 108

Here's what I'm loving this week:

Bon Iver - 22, A Million / No, this post is not unfinished. This is all that matters. I've played this through at least 37 times at this point. It's beautiful. You may cry. Embrace it. Is this the best album of the year? Maybe? Probably not. But unless Beyoncé swings by to personally drop a new project at my home, this is my frontrunner. Nothing else even comes close.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 107

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Margarita Cake / I want to live a life where making homemade citrus curds is in my wheelhouse. This doesn't even look that hard, but for some reason layer cakes are just not happening in my household.

"Books Just for Grownups!" / Dying. So good.

"I Used to Be a Human Being" / Same.

Kllo - Well Worn / Very nice in a non-boring way. I've been working to this all week.

KAYTRANADA - 0.001% / Kaytranada just won the Polaris prize for his killer 99.9%. If you're not hip that that, start there for sure. (He collabs with everyone from Mic Vensa to Little Dragon.) Also, he's coming to Chicago in two weeks. Go or you're an idiot.

High Maintenance / My brother first told me about this web series a few years ago, and I brushed it off as a dumb niche thing about weed dealers. HBO adapted it, and wow. I was so wrong. The first episode alone is an emotional roller coaster, while still being light and fun. Highly recommend.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 106

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Honey Glazed Cornbread Donuts with Bacon / One of the few times where bacon on a donut doesn't sound like a cheap gimmick.

"Framed: A Mystery in Six Parts" / Holy longread perfection. You couldn't make up something this juicy if you tried.

"The 24-Year-Old Coca Cola Virgin" / Amazing.

Better Things / Pamela Adlon (that lady from Louie and a huge help in making Californication watchable) has her own show now. It's good. Really good.

Atlanta / I wanted to hate this so much, purely based on my non-fandom of Donald Glover's alter-ego, Childish Gambino. Well, I was wrong and irrational. It's the most nuanced and quiet show about hip hop I've ever seen. Seriously. Watch it.

Young Thug - JEFFERY / I was extremely tardy to the Young Thug party. Learn from my mistakes. While you're at it, read this profile.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 105

Here's what I'm loving this week:

Kanye Deconstructed: The Human Voice as the Ultimate Instrument / In case you wanted to relive the 808's & Heartbreak years (among other things).

Bouquet / So dreamy. These guys need to put out more stuff. ASAP please.

Inside the Church of Chili's / The perfect long read.

@architectureoftinydistinction / Instagram now recommends me an entire category of accounts just titled "tiny."

Janooz You Can Use / I get a lot of newsletters. A lot of them are similar versions of the same thing. This is not. It's weird and wonderful. Go subscribe.

Giant Pop Tart Cake / Looks dope, probably tastes mediocre. Someone make a s'mores version of this.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 104

Here's what I'm loving this week (special hip hop only edition):

weekly harvest

DJ Khaled - Major Key / I slept on this. It's entirely bangers. ENTIRELY.

Frank Ocean - Blonde / The amount of tomfoolery around this release was absurd. But in the words of Ryan Lochte: "whatever." You might cry on the train. It's okay, let it happen. Catharsis is important.

Vince Staples - Prima Donna / So this is a cute lil' EP. Nothing mind-blowing. More importantly, now seems like the perfect time to talk about how amazing Vince Staples is in interviews. If you haven't gone down that wormhole before, I strongly suggest starting here. Or here. Or here.

PARTYNEXTDOOR - PARTYNEXTDOOR 3 Homeboy is dangerously close to beating Drake at his own game - circa 2011, but still. The apprentice becomes the master?

Gucci Mane - Everybody Looking / Post-prison Gucci is the best Gucci. And if you haven't read the A+ New Yorker profile, there's no time like the present.

Roy Woods - Waking at Dawn / In case you need new additions to your slightly upbeat but still kind of dirty bedroom playlist.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 103

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Wednesday Addams Dress / I've spent the past three years chasing after one of these. Please help me find one. Begging you.

@doggosdoingthings / The captions. Dead.

Rae Sremmurd / Still not sure if this is garbage or not, but I can't stop listening either way.

Javier Mayoral / Nab one of this dude's originals before he blows up. So dry. So weird. So great.

PAPERMEAL / Most mesmerizing thing I've seen in a minute.

Bourbon-Soaked Cherries / Considering buying a cherry pitter just for these babies. Major upgrade from maraschino.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 102

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Noname - Telefone / I hate "girl-crush" as a concept. But hello, here I am. Hip hop needs more of this right now.

"Matt Damon and the Middle-Aged Action Hero" / Journalism that matters.

Shop Art Theft / Long story short, Zara stole a bunch of stuff from independent designers. That's total BS. Go buy some rad stuff from the source.

Black Mirror / I slept on this for so long. But it's unreal - dark and sad and scary in a really specific, mundane way. Bonus: if you have commitment issues, each episode is completely standalone. Oh, and there are only seven of them. So just watch it already.

Balenciaga Fall 2016 / Dead. Dying. RIP.

Disco Fever / This playlist is everything. Throw it on and pretend to be unhappy. I dare you.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 101

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Zara Lace Crop Top / Filed under "beautiful things I bought but now have no idea how to wear."

Jamila Woods - HEAVN / Here's what you should listen to while making waffles or whatever this Sunday.

Toasted Marshmallow Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches / Beyond words.

"Inside the World's Chicest Cult" / People these days. Simultaneously hilarious and appalling.

Clams Casino - 32 Levels / So smooth but still so catchy, with all the features.

Stranger Things / Basically old news at this point considering I binged through it within the first 24 hours, but it's amazing. Winona forever.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 100

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

"The Playlist Factory" / Hello, dream job.

"Mother, Writer, Monster, Maid" / Ya know, in case you were considering pumping out a few chillins in the coming months.

"The State of the Domestic Goddess" / Unpopular opinion - I may be the only person on Earth who doesn't want to strangle Gwyneth Paltrow.

Joey Purp - iiiDrops / This is so dope. Go listen to it now, ya dingus.

DIY Rosé Gummy Bears / Most important question here is why I don't already own a gummy bear mold.

The Eric Andre Show / I slept on this for entirely too long. If you're into anything on Adult Swim, it's essential. Also, this serves as concrete proof that Hannibal Buress should be in everything.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 99

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Mezcal / Somehow I've slept on an entire type of liquor for years. Embarrassing only because it's amazing, like if tequila and a campfire had a delicious lovechild.

Casual / I've watched the entire first season of this show and honestly I'm still not even sure if it's good. Parts of it are really grating, but I can't stop watching. And that counts for something, right?

Blood Orange - Freetown Sound / Soooooooooooooo good.

"Actual Question: Has Drake Ever Had a Girlfriend?" / Hard-hitting, very important journalism. Really though, I love a great conspiracy theory and this one is A+.

Math: An Illustrated Guide / This has basically nothing to do with math. But it's great. And it'll make you smile.

No-Church Sugar Roasted Peach Pie Ice Cream / Sweet baby jesus.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 98

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Cake / Filed under "insanely complicated things I'll never make."

"'Benching' Is The New Ghosting" / Unfortunately, I'm very guilty of this. Trying to be a less crappy person, one day at a time.

@konel_bread / I have absolutely zero idea what any of this means, but who cares, it's mesmerizing.

Prepd Pack / Hi, I'm Olivia, and last week I spent $70 on a lunchbox. AMA.

"13, Right Now" / In case you'd like to better understand the tweens in your life.

The Neu Jorker / Go download this full-length parody issue of the New Yorker. Like, immediately. Every single one of the 82 pages is filled with perfection. Honestly the funniest thing I've seen in months. A+.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 97

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

The Fierce Triumph of Loneliness / This hit so hard.

How Recipe Videos Colonized Your Facebook Page / Because someone needs to answer for all of those cheese-stuffed-bacon-stuffed-mac-n-cheese-ball recipes I know exactly zero people have made.

Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman / F the haters, homegirl can sing way beyond her years. The features are solid too (Future, Macy Gray, Lil Wayne, etc.).

UnREAL / In case you haven't run into me in person lately for a full induction attempt, I'll re-pitch it here. This show is amazing. It's trashy and juicy and drama-filled (it premiered on Lifetime, after all), but more importantly, it's smartly written and has women discussing things other than boys. Basically The Newsroom set behind the scenes of The Bachelor.

Birkenstock Soft Footbed Arizona Sandals / I hate sandals. I get blisters without fail, and who has time to bleed through some kind of nonsense breaking in period? I took the leap on these, and I'm not looking back. Worth every penny.

Kevin Morby - Singing Saw / In case you're not into Ariana Grande. Really though, This album is rad, and perfect for sleepy summer times.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 96

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

"How Blac Chyna Beat The Kardashians At Their Own Game" / In case you wanted in-depth clarification of how this modern fairytale is playing out.

Trader Joe's Chile Lime Seasoning Blend / Best two dollars I've spent in awhile. I've been putting this stuff on everything - from mango to cucumbers to avocado toast. Strongly recommend.

Watermelon Shandy / Peak summer beer solution.

Whitney - "No Matter Where We Go" / A beyond heartwarming video for a perfect summer song.

"Inside Superstar Machine" / I love a good cult exposé. For some reason, I can't help but picture this leader as Jon Hamm's Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Madewell Embroidered Dress / I nabbed this guy on sale last week and have worn it three times since. It looks like a bag, but in a really cool way. Bonus points for pockets.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 95

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

The Rock Clock / If you're not waking up with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, are you even waking up at all?

4 Men with 4 Very Different Incomes Open Up About the Lives They Can Afford / Self-explanatory. This is super refreshing, though. We need to talk candidly about money more often.

Jessy Lanza - Oh No / This is basically what I wanted the last Grimes album to sound like, but better. She's super rad live too.

Three Potato Four / Dreaming about the endless possibilities of having my own letter board.

Chance The Rapper - Coloring Book / Beyond good. And it's free. No excuses - go listen to this.

Hobes / Finally a summer shoe that looks like it won't rip your ankle skin off one step at a time. Praying to the blister goddess that they work out.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 94

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Radiohead - "Burn The Witch" / Suddenly very excited for this album.

Madewell Harbor Lace-Up Shift Dress / The only compelling argument I've ever seen for finally buying a pair of non-black shoes. This guy is perfect.

Funfetti Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies / These babies are filled with frosting. Yes, frosting.

Teatox Party / Moderately terrifying that this is going on. Not sure what the moral is here, aside from maybe let the Jenner endorsements stop hard and fast at lip products?

Rick and Morty / Way tardy to the party on this one. But it's bizarre and you should watch it.

James Blake - The Colour in Anything / If you've been on the hunt for something that isn't Beyoncé to cry to, this is it. Really though, James Blake is the best.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 93

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Beyoncé - Lemonade / Duh. Have you even been on the internet in the last five to seven days? It's good. Damn good.

Uber Passenger Rating / Okay, so this isn't a "love" but definitely high up on my radar lately. I figured out how to check my rating (Help/Account/I'd like to know my rating) - and things are not pretty. On an endless quest to right my wrongs.

Disney Channel Original Movie Marathon / What a time to be alive. Clear your entire calendar for a few days of bliss starting May 27th.

Catastrophe / The most lovable, real comedy I've seen in a long time. Worth navigating the Amazon Prime waters for.

"We Gave Bill Murray a Ride in From the Airport" / The man, the myth, the legend.

Drake - VIEWS / I'm not even prepared to comment coherently on this. Too overwhelmed. Will report back.

WEEKLY HARVEST NO. 92

Here's what I'm loving this week:

weekly harvest

Howard Lee / Absurd, totally mind-blowing photorealism.

A Visit From Aunt Flo / Best commercial I've seen this year, possibly ever. So real.

1:1000 / Basically writers submit 1,000 word entries to match photos from a gallery. One of those "why didn't I think of this" kind of things.

The Voyeur's Motel / Chilling, but fascinating nonetheless.

Man Seeking Woman / Have you seen this show? If not, stop. Right now - go stream it on Hulu or FX. It's weird and dry and dark and there's even bonus magical realism. I endorse this with more fervor than I've endorsed anything in a long time.

Parquet Courts - Human Performance / This album makes me want to go on a road trip to nowhere and do that thing where you feel the little air currents with your hand out the open window.
